Girl, 11, subject of Amber Alert found dead in Brampton home; father arrested



An 11-year-old girl, who was the subject of an amber alert Thursday night, has been found dead inside a Brampton home.

Peel regional police issued an Amber Alert for Riya Rajkumar at about 11 p.m. Thursday after she was not returned to her mother.

Police say Roopesh Rajkumar picked up his daughter around 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the area of Hurontario Street and Derry Road. When he failed to return the child to her mother at 6:30 p.m. she called police.

Police said in a statement the man “made comments indicating he was going to harm himself and his daughter.”

Roopesh Rajkumar was taken into police custody
